We routinely review flea and tick products. We carry a variety of products to meet the needs of our patient's lifestyle and research the safety and efficacy of each product. We recommend always reading the label and never using a product labeled for the wrong species (i.e. don't use a dog product on a cat) or the wrong weight. It is also important to never apply a product that is not safely labeled for young kittens or puppies, lactating, or pregnant animals.
We do not recommend over the counter flea and tick products sold at the supermarket or pet stores. We find that these are not as effective as the products we recommend. They also have significant safety issues, when over the counter flea and tick medications are placed on cats they can have severe and potentially life-threatening reactions.
