Why AAHA Accreditation Matters
Did you know that accreditation for animal hospitals is completely voluntary? Many pet owners assume their veterinary hospital is accredited, but in reality, only about 12-15% of animal hospitals in North America meet the rigorous standards set by the American Animal Hospital Association (AAHA).
Unlike human hospitals, which are required by law to be accredited, veterinary hospitals are not. This means not every animal hospital chooses to pursue accreditation - because the process is demanding, time-consuming, and requires meeting nearly 900 standards of veterinary excellence.
