Mission
Our mission is to provide
high quality medicine,
surgery, and preventative
veterinary care to the South
Coast of Massachusetts and
the eastern shore of Rhode
Island. We strive to bring
the latest technology and
techniques in a friendly,
personal atmosphere.
History
After graduating from the
University of Pennsylvania,
Drs. Gerald Pietsch and
Lawrence Shinamon founded
Anchor Animal Hospital in
1975. Their goal was to
bring high quality
veterinary care to the South
Coast of Massachusetts and
the nearby Rhode Island
communities.
Anchor Animal Hospital
rapidly grew into a 5 doctor
practice. We have continued
to add new equipment and
technology for over 30 years
and strive to bring the best
care possible to the South
Coast.
Anchor Animal Hospital has
been an accredited member of
the American Animal Hospital
Association since 1980. To
achieve this we have regular
reviews and inspections to
make sure that we meet high
standards and keep abreast
with the latest technology
and techniques.
X-rays have been standard
equipment at Anchor Animal
Hospital since it opened and
the doctors and staff pride
themselves on their ability
to take and interpret
x-rays. Our doctors are also
trained to perform contrast
studies to help diagnose
gastrointestinal, kidney, or
bladder disease.
Anchor Animal Hospital was
one of the first veterinary
hospitals in the South Coast
of Massachusetts to bring
ultrasound into veterinary
practice. For 15 - 20 years
we have been performing both
abdominal ultrasound and
echocardiograms (ultrasound
of the heart). We now are
offering referral
ultrasounds to other local
veterinary hospitals to help
them take advantage of this
very useful diagnostic tool.
Recently Dr. Gerald
Pietsch’s daughter, Dr. Kate
Pietsch, joined the staff of
Anchor Animal Hospital. She
hopes to carry on the
tradition of quality and
caring medicine at Anchor
Animal Hospital well into
the future. |
